What I
stand for

I’m committed to continue making Rotorua a better place for all.

As your Mayor, I’ve worked tirelessly to end reliance on emergency housing motels, restore community safety, start the Museum rebuild, and grow Rotorua’s economy and housing.

Over the next three years I’ll continue to have a strong stance to deliver a safer community, reliable infrastructure and a sustainable future. We’ll reprioritise Council spending on core services that matter to you.

With a new Chief Executive and refreshed Council, we’re ready to keep the momentum going.

Please support me to ensure strong, experienced leadership to deliver real results for Rotorua.

What have I
delivered for you?

Housing & local economy:

  • Restoring Rotorua’s reputation as a premier tourism and events destination, highlighted by successful campaigns like the award-winning Rotorua Robe Trip.

  • Ending emergency housing motels, while housing development has accelerated with 522 new homes built in 2024 and consents up 40% against a national decline.

  • Strategic initiatives such as the Future Development Strategy are ensuring sustainable growth.

Environment & water:

  • Protecting Rotorua’s environment has also been a priority, with reserves saved from development and the Springfield Golf Course lease renewed.

  • Infrastructure investment is ongoing, including upgrades to the Wastewater Treatment Plant, completion of Stage One of the Tarawera Sewerage Reticulation Scheme.

  • Securing a long-term water source through partnership with Ngāti Kearoa Ngāti Tuarā at Karamū Tākina Spring. Council has also chosen to retain local management of water services for now.

Community safety:

  • Created the Inner-City Safety Hub, increased our CCTV network and secured more Police in the CBD through a new Police CBD Beat Team.

  • Extended community safety patrols and CCTV into our neighbourhoods such as Ngongotahā and Eastside.

  • Introduced new by-laws to deter begging in the inner-city and also abandoned trolleys.

Affordability:

  • Did not create any new debt over the past 3 years and paused non-essential projects.

  • Made improvements and savings internally in Council by restructuring, and reprioritising to core services.

  • Brought ‘Infracore’ contractors and services back into management of Council and outsourced the operations of our key venues and major events to RotoruaNZ to improve revenue opportunities over time for these community assets.
